Formula bar is too long - Can it be automatically shortened?

I have a 30" monitor. The formula bar in Excel 2008 (12.2.1) always stretches the entire width. Is there a way to limit the length of this so that it doesn't take so much movement to reach the right end?

Sorry, not if it is docked.

Use its lower right corner to stretch it to the size you want... Although
I'm at a loss to understand what you need at its "right end" :) There's
nothing to do there other than the stretching corner & the Cancel (X)
button, & cancelling the entry/edit can be accomplished more readily with
the ESC key.

Hi,

That's the point! For many of us, who are mouse rather than keyboard
oriented, it is a Llloooonnnngggg way to the cancel button when it is
displayed on a big screen. I've often seen smoke coming from my mouse
because of the frequent long trips to the right of the formula bar.

Aw, c'mon Bob -- you don't edit formulas with your mouse... your hands are
already at the kybd otherwise you wouldn't have any reason to Cancel what
you've done :) Besides, I know you never make any mistakes in the first
place ;-)
