Formula Bar

In Excel 2000 - When you go to a cell that has a number already there and you
want to add to it there is an = sign on your formula bar that you can hit and
it automatically puts it in front of the number and you just hit + and the
number to add. How do you get that = sign there in Excel 2003?

Thanks

Right click on your toolbar, select Customize. Select the Commands tab.
Select Insert from the list onthe left. Scroll down the list on the
right until you find the "=", "+" or whatever mathematic operator you
want to add. Select and drag it to the toolbar where you want it to be
located.

I've tried that but when you hit the = it works if there is nothing in the
cell but if there is a number already in the cell and you want to add to it,
it blanks that number out and just puts the new number in. I know in Excel
2000 where the fx is in 2003 there used to be an =. I would like to change
the fx to an = but don't know if I can or how to do it.

Actually, MS eliminated it in xl2002.

But there is an equal sign icon that you can add to your favorite toolbar.

Tools|Customize|Commands tab|Insert Category
(a little more than half way down the commands list.)
