I just converted to Office 2008 from 2004. One feature that seems to be gone is the green check (or "enter") in the formula bar, and I can't seem to find out how to add it in tool/menu customization. How can I get it back? I am so used to using it, it's freaking me out not having it!

Well, you and me too. You can't get it back, it's gone. It's just not
available in Excel 2008. If you are unhappy about this, use the help-Send
feedback to express your concerns to Microsoft. Hopefully there will be
enough comments that it may come back in a future version.

I understand completely, but that is a legacy feature which has been
eliminated. Whether it will be restored in the next release I have no idea,
but I can assure you that there is nothing you can do to "turn it on" nor
should you expect to see it return via an update to 2008.

If your main concern is with being able to finish an entry without moving
the cell selector I'd suggest that you try to develop the habit of using
Control+return rather than reaching for the mouse.

Alternatively, you can use Excel> Preference - Edit, clear the check for
"After pressing RETURN, move selection" which will enable using the
return/enter key without moving the selector... unless you have a range of
cells selected, in which case it will behave as usual.
