Formula first time numer appears

I am trying to get a formula which would put in the top cell what line the
first time a number =>than a number that I want it to look for.
Example
A B C
3 this is the first line that =>8
1 6
2 7
3 8
4 8
5 6

Try this:

=MATCH(TRUE,INDEX(A1:A100>=8,0),0)

Is that something you can work with?

Try this

=MATCH( A1, $B$1:$B$1000,0)

Returns the row number from column B of the value in A1

Is there something I can add to give me >=8 what if it is 8.1 or 1000?
Right now it just picks up the first 8. Thank you for the first reply that
was great.
