formula for last Fridays date

Hi

I am looking to setup a formula that looks at the current date & from that,
calculates & presents the previous fridays date in a cell

Can anyone advise me a formula for this?

Assuming "previous friday" applies to fridays, too, one way:

=A1-WEEKDAY(A1+1)

Ive probably done something wrong but I couldn't get your formula to work...??

JE's formula is identical to Biff's in concept and would produce exactly
the same result if A1 held Today's date.
