Formula is Too Long

I am working on my budget spreadsheet which references another file. SInce I changed to Windows XP it made my file path longer by adding the Documents and settings/my name/my documents so now I am getting an error stating my formula is too long. Anyone have any ideas on how to adjust the allowed amount for formulas or any other ideas?
