formula referencing text in other cell

Dan Kelly

I keep having a very frustrating problem. I have a many
page file that has text entered into cell B1 on the first
sheet, then I want the other sheets to reference Sheet1
B1, the formula looks like this "=Sheet1!B1". The problem
is that it works on one page but not on another. The text
in the referenced cell reads "Brewerton W.W.T.P. Monthly
Report For February 2004", when the formula works I see
that text, when it doesn't I see "=Sheet1!B1".

The formula looks exactly the same, and the cells are
formatted the same. Also, I have modified a working
formula as follows "=Sheet1!$B$1", and once again it
breaks the formula.

I am currently using Excel 2000, but I have had the exact
same problem in previous versions of Excel.

Thanks in advance,
Dan

Check the number format in the cells where the formula is not evaluating. It is probably set to "text" Change the format and re-enter the formula

Note that the " " marks are not in any of the formulas
