formula shows in cell when trying to copy

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong! When I copy a
formula =SUM(C15:C51)+SUM(C20:C54) to add columns, the
formula shows instead of the result. I try to add another
range, and it still shows. HELP!

sounds like the target cell is formatted as text. Try selecting the cell
and formatting it as General

any chance there is a space at the beginning of the formula ?

If you press F2, Home and Delete and the Equals sign doesn't get deleted,
that could be the answer.

I know it just slipped your mind Trevor, to tell her that *after* she
changes the format of the cell to General, she either has to re-enter the
formula, or click in the formula bar and hit <Enter>, or hit <F2> and then
hit <Enter>.
