Formula shows up instead of result

EXCEL 2007

From time to time when I do a VLOOKUP between two different workbooks the
formula shows instead of the result. Sometimes if I delete the column and
insert a new one and re-do it all is ok. But there are times when nothing
seems to correct it. Anyone know why this happens and what I can do to fix
it?

Make sure that the cell with the formula is formatted as General (or anything
but Text).

If you're already seeing the formula, then:
Select the cell
Format|cells|number tab
Choose General (and ok)

Then hit F2, then enter to reenter the formula.

It worked this time. I am 99% sure I had the new column formatted as
general. Thank you.

Problem resolved!
