formula to calculate values displayed in a chart

Require to enter sum of varying values in a text box in the chart area.

Are there any formula or other methods to do this.

Activate/click the chart.
In the formula bar enter "=" (an equal sign without the quote marks)
Click the cell that contains the total you want to display.
Press the Enter key.
That will create a textbox (with the cell value) located somewhere on the chart.
Drag the textbox as desired.

Note: the above probably won't work in XL2007.
However, you do have the ribbon to look at. <g>

In 2007 you can create the textbox explicitly, then select it, click in the
formula bar, type "=", and click on the desired cell.
