formula

I am having a problem creating a formula. My sequence
starts with a alpha numeric number 01 A05001A .I need to
change the 5th and 6th characters from 05 to 10. I have
tried to do a replace but not working.
(=replace,B3896,6,2,"10") is what I'm trying, can anyone
help?

=REPLACE(B3896,5,2,"10")
