I have following sheet (shortend)

Now I want a total of col2 by col1

AU 1
OM
So, which formule I have to use to calculate the 13 and the 5

Hi Jaco
one way
=SUMIF($A$1:$A$20,"AU",$B$1:$B$20)
you may replace the "AU" with a cell reference which stores this
string. e.g.
=SUMIF($A$1:$A$20,D1,$B$1:$B$20)
where D1 stores you criteria

another option is the use of pivot tables to create this report for
