forward without opening

Outlook 2002
Is it possible to forward a message without opening it?

The email is from someone I do not know, but it may be information that I
requested from an online retailer. It is Acrobat, and there are no
attachments. I want to forward it to a different mailbox because it uses a
text-based only interface (e-prompter), and it is non-MS, which I believe
will reduce the chance of infection. Outlook 2002 opens the email when I
select "forward" from the pull-down menu.

No.

Not possible. You can't include a PDF in the body of a message. It must be
an attachment if it's PDF (i.e., Acrobat output).

Opening a message in Outlook 2002 with the current service pack and an
up-to-date antivirus program on your PC has little chance of infecting that
PC.

Provided you have up-to-date antivirus software running and the latest
windows and office service packs, it's safe to open.

But to answer your question... you'll need to send as an attachment to avoid
opening it. Either select two messages and hit forward then delete the
second attachment or open a new message form and use Insert, Item to attach
it (can also drag and drop the message to a new form).

Hi Brian,
Thanks for taking the time to respond. However, it was possible to forward
without opening. I used Diane Poremsky's technique--none of the emails
opened--the undeleted message was sent as an attachment.

The problem, and this is what you may have been referring to (but your brain
skipped a few steps), is that I must now open the attachment in a third email
program in order to read it--eprompter can not open attachments yet.

As for MS products being safe...thanks for the humor!

If I had UNIX available, I would open the document.

Great.

You didn't say you didn't want to open the attachment. You said you didn't
want to open the message. They aren't the same thing. A message is not a
document.

Hi Brian,
There is some confusion...
My original post indicated that there are no attachments, which is still true.

The attachment entered the picture when I forwarded the message to myself
(forwarded as an attachment). thanks again. greg.

The original post said the message contain Adobe Acrobat information, which
can only be presented via attachment.

Maybe improvements have been made to the program since July. I've tried to
forward emails to my server to report them as "spam" without opening them.)
Go to:
Tools: Options : Email Options
at the bottom 'on replies and forwards'
go to: When forwarding a message
in the pulldown box select :"attach original message".

It works!!
I hope this helps
