Forwarded/Replied Mail icons not showing

Using Outlook 2003 on an exchange server, when I forward or reply to an
email, more often than not the envelope icon doesn't add a blue or purple
arrow. Also when you open the email, it doesn't have the info bar saying
that the message has been forwarded. This is really irritating - any ideas?

Are you connected via the Exchange account type as well or are you using a
different protocol?

Custom forms don't show the envelope change. For non-custom forms this issue
is usually caused by virus scanner integration or firewall configuration.
Disable this integration and see if it works now.

Thanks for the reploy.

I'm connecting via the Exchange account type as well.

I can see how I can disable the firewall integration. Also, I'm not aware
of using any forms, custom or non-custom - how can I tell?

You can pretty much safely assume that mail received from outside your
organization aren't custom forms, so if replying to those emails doesn't
reveal the reply icon that the issue is caused by something else.

See the documentation of your virus scanner on how to disable its
integration with Outlook. See the documentation of your firewall on how to
disable it (for testing and reconfiguration purposes only).

Hello,

I've tried that, but it has been disabled by my system administrator. I was
wondering if it could have an impact if some users on our network are still
on a previous version of exchange & outlook, as it only happens randomly -
some emails I reply to get the envelope arrow and some don't.

Don't worry too much - it's not a show stopper!
