Found archive but cannot copy??

Hi
I just recently noticed that my Outlook folders are empty. I have been able
to - by searching *.pst - be able to find the archive file. It seams to hold
messages. I am not sure are they sent or received but anyway. I anyhow have
not been able to copy them back to original folders, or anywhere for that
matter?
What would be the best procedure?

If you use file | open, open the archive PST file, does it show up? Can you
not select items and copy to your main PST file?

Any idea how your default PST file got emptied/new empty file got created?
Did you notice anything strange right before it happened?
