Ok,
I'm running Windows XP SP1 with the latest security patches and Office Prof.
2003 also with latest updates.
When I install the HP laserjet 4000 printer I'm not able to use Word
anymore. Whit whatever document (or even Outlook) it keep giving me an
error: Word has encountered an error an needs to be closed. Removing the
printer solves the problem.
If more info is needed feel free to ask.

Clearly that is not a bug in Word (or Outlook). That is a problem with the
printer driver. I suggest you look at www.hp.com (or
http://www.hp.com/pond/ljbeta/index.html) for an updated driver.

I'm using the latest driver. This problem bugged me for 2 months until
yesterday after re-installing my laptop for the 5th time. I just installed
XP and O2K3 and word and outlook worked perfect, I installed the latest
printer driver for the HP4000TN and guess what, Word crashed.

It seems clear that there is a conflict between Word and that driver.

There are known conflicts with Office XP & 2003 and the HP4000 drivers.
Most firms I work with end up using a generic Windows driver.
