FP 03 Hover Buttons

Ryan

I'm getting the feeling that FrontPage 2003 doesn't have
hover buttons anymore. Do they and I just can't find
them or did they remove them? I personally think they
should have kept them ... can I get them back??

TIA,
Ryan

That's correct. FP2003 has removed the hover buttons but you can still use
ones you had from a previous version. The new way of doing it is with
Interactive Buttons. Try those out, I think you'll like them better and
they load much faster and since they aren't JAVA applets you don't have to
worry about users that don't have the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) not being
able to see them.

Most people have quit using them because they
require that Java Virtual Machine is installed on
a viewers computer.
New computers with Windows XP and IE 6 don't come with JVM,
due to a recent court case between Microsoft and Sun.

No, Dave. The hover buttons are still part of FP 2003. Remember, they just
buried the menu somewhere. I'm not at FP 2003 right now, so can't check to
see where it is. But it's still there.

I wasn't able to find it through the Insert/Web Component Menu but when I
right clicked on a Tool Bar to customize I found it there under the insert
menu so all you would have to do is create a custom menu and drag the
command to the new menu.

That's right Bill, we moved it into the command well because of the fact
they use Java and have been effectively replaced with Interactive Buttons
which use JScript.

I highly recommend using Interactive Buttons instead of hover buttons.
