FP 2000 some changes do not publish

Elena

My os is MSxp pro. I have changed my email address. I have entered the new
email, hyperlinked, saved, and checked every single page on the website in
front page. The changes show on each page, and in the browser view. When I
attempt to publish in front page, I get disconnected from the server.

Dollar Host has tried it from a remote server and says it works fine, and
the problem must be at Verizon dsl. Verizon denies any ftp blockers or
problems. It has been suggested that I enter the prefix nt\ when I
attempt to publish. The modem is installed on another computer in the house.
My computer has the wireless USB connection.

I have installed leapftp and semi-successfully uploaded my website (very
quickly!), The changes appear on some, but not all of the published pages.

FP does not work with all FTP servers, so in those cases you have to use a 3rd Party FTP application
to upload.

Under IE, Internet Options | Advanced, enable Passive FTP and see if that helps.

Passive FTP was enabled. How do I know if my FTP server will work with FP?
Publishing from FP "almost" works, sometimes. It will upload most of the
files before disconnecting, sometimes it disconnects early in the upload.

It either works or it doesn't. If it doesn't then you only choice is to use a 3rd Party FTP
application or move to host that supports the FP extensions and publish via http.

Thank you again Thomas.

I have tried a 3rd party FTP (again), LeapFTP. It uploads, but all the
changes do not show. Can you suggest another that works with FP?

I have also called my host (again) and they insist that they support FP.

I have also contacted Verizon (again), and they suggest I access FTP files
through internet explorer.

Try this using LeapFTP...

Open your web in FP, then publish to another folder on your HD via File Menu | Publish Web and enter
c:\mysiteFTP, then open this folder in Windows Explorer, delete ALL _vti folders, as they are not
needed, then use LeapFTP to upload the content of "mysiteFTP"

There really is no thing as a FTP application that works with FP, since a 3rd Party FTP application
would be used outside of FP.

Thank you Thomas.

I did that, deleted 2 _vti folders and uploaded using leap. Results are the
same. The site online is still not showing my new email address on 6 of the
pages, and (new publishing error) 2 of the image enlargement pages have
vanished.

Since your last reply I have uninstalled Norton and servicepack2.

Elena,

I am not sure what is happening, as I run FP2000 under Windows XP Pro SP2, and prior to last month,
I was running under Windows XP Home, SP2 and have never had any publish problems, however I also
publish to server that have the FP extensions.

Thank you Thomas. I shall explore servers with FP extensions before I defect
to Linux, Mac, or elsewhere on the "dark side."
