FP 2002 and IIS 5.1

Stuff

Hi,

(Running XP-PRO, FP 2002...all updates are current)

I would like to publish to localhost (and quit publishing to this "free"
host who doesn't seem to have his act together) When I try to
ftp://:localhost, it asks for my username and password ... where do I find
that in IIS / localhost?

I have admin privileges on my XP box, and I am the only user.

Thank you,
Howie

Have you tried the username and password you use for
logging into Windows XP?

In general, though, you'll be much better off installing
the Frontpage Server Extensions on your local copy of
IIS, and then publishing via HTTP.

Hi Jim,

thanX for your reply ... I have commented in your reply below...please
scroll down, OK?

(Interesting fact...when I do a Windows ADD/REMOVE from the control panel, I
can see FP Extensions 2000 are being loaded...I am using FP 2002. Is this a
problem?)

I am the only user on this compouter, so I do not use a password. But, yes,
I have tried to use my name w/o a password, and it does not work.

I have attempt4ed to publish to HTTP://localhost/gabriel where Gabriel is a
folder I placed in C:\\inetpub. Whgen I do this, it errors and gives me
several possible causes, one of which is FP Extension may not be installed
(but, FP 2000 extensions are there, yes???)

Agreed. How do I install FP Extension 2002, when XP has loaded FP
Extensions 2000. I am missing something...virtual file, etc. Where can I
get more detailed information?

ThanX for your help, Jim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You would be better off with the FP2002 extensions. You can download
these from http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnservext/html/fpse02win.asp
I am the only user on this compouter, so I do not use a password. But, yes,
I have tried to use my name w/o a password, and it does not work.

If you use Windows Explorer to look at the properties of your Web's
root folder, you should be able to see what accounts currently have
access.

The correct folder would be c:\inetpub\wwwroot\gabriel. However, you
should create this by opening the Web at http://localhost in FrontPage
and then using FrontPage to create a new subweb.

Again, download the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions from
