FP 2002 Changing a themes background color

D

Dan Calica

Color changes to do not work. I click on Format then theme.
I choose the theme. I click on modify, I click on
colors... I choose background (actually that is already
selected)I click on the custom tab, I click on color then
the more colors tab. I then select the color from the
chart by first clicking the select button. After clicking
OK a couple of times I click "save as". The theme I have
been saving is a copy of an original theme. I save it back
as the same name as the copy. I get no error messages. I
get a message that the theme will not be applied to any
pages that are separately themed. It is not applied to any
pages that have this theme. Am I doing something wrong? Is
this a bug in frontpage?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Dan

You must save the theme under a new name, then remove the current theme,
then apply the your new theme.

Thomas,
Thanks for your quick response. I followed your directions
and am still not getting the background color to change?
Any other thoughts?
Dan

1. Did you open the current theme, make your changes, then save it under a
new name?
2. Did you remove the current theme from your web?
3. Did you apply your new modified theme to your web?

Thomas,
I did remove the current theme and then I applied the new
modified theme. The change does not take effect.

Ok, just wanted to be sure.

After removing the theme, run Tools | Recalculate Hyperlinks, close FP, then
using Windows Start me do a search for hidden/system *.web files and delete,
and also delete the FP Temp folder under the Windows Temp folder.

Hi Thomas,
I followed your directions and am still getting the same
result. I think I may be forced to learn Dream Weaver and
stop pulling out the little hair I have left.
Thanks for trying,
Dan

When you applied the original theme, did you apply it to your entire web,
and is set as the web default?
