FP 2002: how to create Search website function

W

Having problems creating a Search component using FP 2002. For one thing, when going to Insert, Web Component, I do not have a Search Form option?!!

FP's Help files make it seem as though it is extremely simple to do, but alas, not so.

Also, I create my pages in Front Page, but I so far have not been using FP to publish, have simply been uploading finished pages and graphics. Is it necessary to do something special when using components, or does the code in the page take care of all necessary steps??

Can someone point me to a helpful resource on this subject??

Be sensible. Use Google's free websearch & website
facility.
Just copy & paste the code.

The search component is not in the web components
Use File New page and select the Search page template
- it requires publishing in http to a server running the FP Server Extensions

To publish you need to have a FP web open (not just a page) - File New Web
Use File Publish Web/Site and enter the url as http://www.yourdomain.com/
- again you host server needs the FP SE or FP will revert to FTP and none of the FP run time webbots will work

Stefan, thankyou very much!!! Do you HAVE to publish the web using FP,
though?? If you simply upload the pages, will that work???
