FP 2002 link and file open glitches

Anybody having these extremely annoying problems? They're
occuring on both XP computers I've tried running FP2002
on. They both have 1 GIG of RAM and 1.8 ghz processors.

-EVERY TIME I want to edit a page link, Front Page
freezes up for as long as a minute, then lets me continue

-EVERY TIME I do a file open or insert an image I get an
error message saying there's been a memory error.

I have the latest version of Dreamweaver and I'm mad
enough to switch over for good.

I liked FP2000, but neglected to make a back up of the
CD, then stepped on it (and cracked it). So I can't even
go back to that..

Close FrontPage.
Find and delete all files you find by
doing a search for *.web
Clear your browsers history and cache files.
Reopen FrontPage and your web and see
if there's any difference.

If running the FP SE you may want to tune the web

IMHO - any web that size needs to be broken down into subwebs

| (2300) in the folders I use to store .htm and images. The
| threshold where FP2002 freaks out seems to be 2000 files.
