My FTP remote server logs me into a subdomain and expects me to navigate back for example ../../web
How do I do this?

In these cases you can't use FP's FTP to upload, you will need to use a 3rd Party FTP application.

I don't know a lot about these things but isn't this common? I am told it is the way Cobalt servers are set up to do webs
The two 3rd party FTP applications I use don't even need the ../..
I am a little frustrated with this part of my reason to upgrade to 2003 at this point

Not really, as a host can set up their system to give the FTP login direct access to the folders
needed.
