FP 2003 insert hyperlink problem

I just upgraded to FP 2003. I've been using FP since 1997,
and this is the first time I've had this problem:

First let me explain that I work directly on the server; I
don't keep my website locally and publish. When creating a
hyperlink, I can no longer see files in subfolders (not
sub-webs). Example: I highlight some text on a web
page, go to insert hyperlink, and the Insert Hyperlink
dialog appears (as per usual). Link to: Existing Web Page
or File is selected. Here's where the problem starst: In
the current folder box, if start drilling down through
folders, I cannot see any individual files in the folders.
The "Current Folder" box is just blank.

What gives?

Thanks,

Hi

We experienced exactly the same problem yesterday with one of our users
using Frontpage 2002 - so I dont think your problem is version specific.

We were unable in our case to see the word files she had in a folder and
therefore could not point to them for the hyperlinks - it was almost as if
the dialogue box was picking up the files 'locally' rather than from the
real location that we were pointing too.

We have not yet found a solution for the problem as it doesn't appear to
affect everyone - however we managed to get the documents linked in the end
by dragging them across from the folder view on the left directly into the
document, and then renaming the link once it was there. Incidently, when we
right-clicked and viewed the hyperlink properties it was exactly as you
would have expected it to be if you had managed to select the file in the
first place.

If I find out why this is happening I will post back, if you do - please do
the same.

Many thanks,

Rob

Sounds like broken Web Folders to me. Look for a link to this site in My
Network Places on your Desktop. Double-click that and see if you can see
the files there. If not, it's probably corrupt Web Folders.

Here's an article that may help:

TKS,

Web Folders are on the client, not the server. If you can't see the files
in My Network Places, you definitely have broken Web Folders. No doubt
about it.
