FP changing website on startup

I inherited a website created on a prior version of FP. http://Newcityjc.org. When I connect to the site with FP2003 it deletes the left border in index.html. The size of the file is reduced from 11K to 3K, the date and time are unchanged. If I try to publish the file is 11K on my local and still 3K on the site. If I ftp the original file the page is again good

Can somebody please explain what is happening

As far as I know, this isn't a known bug. More likely,
there's some invalid HTML or other corruption in the old
site.

I would try recalculating hyperlinks, then reinserting
the left shared border.

When I look at your left shared border at http://Newcityjc.org/_borders/left.htm I see a checksum = 0 usually indicating there is no
navigation view

Did you open this page within a FP Site (not as just a page) using File Open Site and use View Navigation to check the navigation
view (make sure your home page has the correct filename for your server and has the home icon in it)

Note - by default Shared borders are turned off (depreciated) in FP2003
- Tools Page Options Authoring to turn them on
