Took two directories with it, one full of images and in
additon it took about 9 html pages. I have looked
everywhere on hard drive and am unable to locate.

Anyone have any ideas where they might have went?

I worked on these files Weds & Thurs. SHut down that
night- got back on friday evening and worked a bit and
then FP LOCKED UP, 3 finger salute to get out, rebooted
and the files were GONE!!!!

And of course I normally back up on saturdays.

Copy and paste this into an internet explorer address bar, click Go and see if you see a list of
files with the .tmp extension.
C:\Documents and Settings\Christie\Local Settings\Temp\FrontPageTempDir
If so, these are copies of the pages.
Copy and paste them to another location, rename then with the htm extension, example rename 123.tmp
to 123.htm and then open them in FrontPage. If they are your pages save them back to your web and
rename them again as appropriate.

If the folder at the file source I posted is empty, you are unfortunately "out of luck."

Hi Steve...
I don't have that structure, I use the
C:\documents and Settings\*MYNAMEHERE*\

from there there is No LOCAL SETTINGS. Could FP have
stashed them somewhere else on me? I found a FP Folder -
Front Page Webs on C drive, but has to main directories,
CONTENT and SERVER- that is it. :(

What about any file recover programs? Any luck with any
of those that you don't have to have installed BEFORE
you "bite the dust" lol

C:/Documents and settings/username/Local Settings is a hidden system folder.
In Windows Explorer use Tools -> Folder Options
and in the view tab click the "Show hidden files and folders" radio button,.

actually I goofed.
It should have been:

C:\Documents and Settings\%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temp\FrontPageTempDir

Sorry.

No Problem Steve. I thank you and Ron both for trying but
they are not there.
They just can't disappear can they? LOL
I mean even when something is deleted it isn't really
gone, just written over.
Any other thoughts or suggestions?
What are your thoughts on the Recovery programs I
mentioned?

Sorry, I don't know of any unerase/recovery programs that will run from CD
or floppy, and that Windows will allow to run. I tried Norton's Unerase
from the CD and Windows XP told it to go away. Of course, installing the
program may overwrite your missing files.

Unless you have published to your live site, or have them on backup, your
only hope of recovery (as far as I can see) is to take your hard disc to a
good friend or recovery service.
