FP Photo Gallery Gurus

Hey FP Gurus, got a problem!

Need your insight...

I have FrontPage 2003 installed, with Windows XP and SP2. Can't seem to get
Slide Show to work. What steps are required. I use Photo Gallery
frequently, but this is my first attempt at Slide Show. I believe I followed
the proper steps, but what I expected to get out of Slide Show doesn't look
like a slide show to me.

I added the pics, and selected Slide Show under the Layout tab. The 5 pics
appear, with one large pic below the five. There are two arrow tips, one on
each side of the 5 pics, but they are not functional. They can't be
highlighted, nor do they perform any function. I must select each pic, by
clicking on each, for each to be "enlarged" below. There is nothing
"automatic," like I would have expected from a slide show, nor can I select
one of the "arrowheads" to step through the pics -- forward, or back.

What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do to correct this malfunction?
What should I be able to expect from Slide Show?

Thanks for your sage advice... in advance!

If all 5 thumbnails show on the page, there is nothing to scroll forward to
or back from so that is why the arrows do not work. If you had say 15 or 20
images then the arrows would scroll the way they are supposed to.

Steven, thanks... therefore what I conclude from what you've said, is that
the "slide show" is nothing more than having the thumbnails enlarged on the
same page, and that because there are only five pics, then the only only
"advantage" is that the pics are enlarged on the same page, right, otherwise,
if there were more pics, there would be the additional advantage of stepping
through the pics?

If that is the case, do you know of some "more automated" type of slide show
that is available as a plug-in for FrontPage?

Hey, thanks for the quick reply... I thought I had a problem. Well, I guess
I still do, in that Slide Show is far less than what I would like.

Thanks again... I look forward to your reply and insight.

I'm not sure if you can customize the 2003 slideshow in frontpage easily in
any sort of wysiwyg fashion to get a custom feel to it, I'm sure it can be
done but I havn't tried it. Flash MX has a nice built-in slideshow that is
fully customizable as far as the dashboard look goes but it's spendy. I use
the frontpage one because it is fast and simple to use and I don't mind the
minimalist features. If you want something that you can customize for free
just do a search on frontpage addins and slideshows and I'll bet a few things
will come up. The only thing I don't like about most of those things is they
usually have some kind of banner or linkback to the original site and that
bugs me. (a little)...

Steven:

I agree on all counts... thanks so very much for your insight and
consideration, and your prompt, on-point replies.
