FP Search component fails

A

Augie Dawg

I've searched quite a few archives, and still don't understand how to fix
the problem I'm seeing after trying to use the Web Component that returns
the pages in my web site that contain the search term. I'm now getting a
"HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found." error when I try to use the
search form, but it used to work just fine. It's been years since I last
used it, and the major change in those years was to change ISP's about a
year ago. All other FP extensions & webbots are working correctly, so I
think it's something else. The page it's looking for is
.../_derived/nortbots.htm , which indeed doesn't exist. Some postings allude
to this page being generated on a local disk-based web by FP to inform the
user that the page needs to be published, but I'm publishing to a remote
host. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
A.D.

Have you gone to tools - recalculate hyperlinks and the re-published?
Have you gone in and did a check on the FPSE?

Did you contact your hosting company to see if they support this
feature? From what I can remember, you need to have the indexing
service turned on I think for the Frontpage component to work
