FP will NOT open my web!

S

Stefan B Rusynko

Its probably because your pages use external links to other servers
(which may take forever to open - if al all) as in
<img src="http://www.marketingtips.com/images/emailebook.gif" border="0" width="124" height="174">
or
<img src="http://assets.bravenet.com/cp/guestbook.gif" border="0" title="Free Guestbook from Bravenet.com" alt="Free Guestbook from
Bravenet.com" followed by a lot of "garbage"

Try turning your internet connection on (open IE to a web page), and then opening your local site in FP
or turning off your internet connection , and then opening your local site in FP

Or open the file in note pad and delete all the bravenet code and any external links

The FP server extensions are installed. You must have looked between my host
deactivating them and me reactivating them and inbetween LONG emails with
them.
I tried to open the live site by File/OpenWeb/then picked my site and it
said "loading...." and never opened the site still. And I did rename my web
to Jennifer (don't ask why I had named it that....). And I'd like to delete
some things and edit some fonts and colors, but I CAN'T! (the bg color should
be a brownish color, not black). I have a few Bravenet things on there
because I have had problems from the beginning with my FP extensions not
loading up guestbooks and forms correctly, so to forget all the hassle I just
used theirs.
I tried both of Stefan's ideas and neither worked so I'm going to try to
load them in Notepad, if icna figure that out and try to delete some of the
"crap". That's what I get for playing around a bit!

Thanks,
Jennifer

I can't get notepad to open anything. I may be doing it wrong since I've
never used notepad before. But when I tried to open my web pages, it only
gave me certain files to choose from and none of them were my actual pages.
Any ideas??

Try turning your internet connection on (open IE to a web page), and then opening your local site in FP
or turning off your internet connection , and then opening your local site in FP

Or open the file in note pad and delete all the bravenet code and any external links

OK I went to my actual website on the internet, clicked on File and then I
clicked on Edit with Frontpages. That opened up my page, but only half of
it. It would not load my shared borders. Now I don't want to save what I
edit because I'm afraid it will save it without the borders. Do you know why
it would open up without the borders on it? Is that maybe where my problem
is? What should I do to get the borders to show up? This is so strange!

Its probably because your pages use external links to other servers
(which may take forever to open - if al all) as in
<img src="http://www.marketingtips.com/images/emailebook.gif" border="0" width="124" height="174">
or
<img src="http://assets.bravenet.com/cp/guestbook.gif" border="0" title="Free Guestbook from Bravenet.com" alt="Free Guestbook from
Bravenet.com" followed by a lot of "garbage"

Try turning your internet connection on (open IE to a web page), and then opening your local site in FP
or turning off your internet connection , and then opening your local site in FP

Or open the file in note pad and delete all the bravenet code and any external links

As far as I can tell, the site still has no FrontPage extensions.
A page will always open in FrontPage without shared borders showing if
you have not opened the site in FrontPage. When you use the "Edit
with FrontPage" button in IE, you should get a logon dialogue, which
results in the site being opened. If the logon does not appear it is
a sign that the extensions are not installed, or not working.
Additional test (for installation) is the presence of
http://www.momonabudget.com/_vti_inf.html

If the file and folder list does appear when opening a page this way,
then close the page, and use Tools->Recalculate Hyperlinks. Then try
opening the page.

I've contacted my server again about my extensions and am still waiting for a
response. I have had problems with my extensions through them from the
beginning.
The login definately did not appear when I clicked on "edit with frontpage".
Where should I choose Tools->Recalculate hyperlinks? In Frontpages? I
tried in FP when I had one page open (since it would only show me the option
when I had a page open) and it just hung on. Should I be trying it this way
or a different way?

OK I went to my actual website on the internet, clicked on File and
then I
clicked on Edit with Frontpages. That opened up my page, but only
half of
it. It would not load my shared borders. Now I don't want to save
what I
edit because I'm afraid it will save it without the borders. Do you
know why
it would open up without the borders on it? Is that maybe where my
problem
is? What should I do to get the borders to show up? This is so
strange!

I can't get notepad to open anything. I may be doing it wrong
since I've
never used notepad before. But when I tried to open my web pages,
it only
gave me certain files to choose from and none of them were my
actual pages.
Any ideas??

Jennifer

:

Its probably because your pages use external links to other
servers
(which may take forever to open - if al all) as in
<img src="http://www.marketingtips.com/images/emailebook.gif"
border="0" width="124" height="174">
or
<img src="http://assets.bravenet.com/cp/guestbook.gif" border="0"
title="Free Guestbook from Bravenet.com" alt="Free Guestbook from
Bravenet.com" followed by a lot of "garbage"

Try turning your internet connection on (open IE to a web page),
and then opening your local site in FP
or turning off your internet connection , and then opening your
local site in FP

Or open the file in note pad and delete all the bravenet code and
any external links

| Somehow I got FP to disable "open last web..", but I'm not sure
how. I think
| between me and my host deleting things on the FTP and on the
server, it said
| there was nothing there to load so it wouldn't. This way I was
able to
| disable the open last web option. But now FP will still not
open. When I
| click on file/open/... it just hangs there. Doesn't say it's
loading or
| anything. It will still open up anything else in FP, just not
my site. Last
| time someone had asked for my site, but it wasn't being
displayed because of
| an error. I have that fixed so if it helps the URL is
| http://www.momonabudget.com .
