FP2003 and Unmatched Status

Hey All,

No matter what I try, I can not synchronize my remote to my local.
I get a lot of Unmatched files afterwards.

I guess I can totally obliterate my website and publish all files
again..

Is this the only way to make this work???

thx

Did you do at least one File Publish ALL
After any upgrade always first do a File Publish Site - select All (from the Publishing tab)

Also do any of your pages have dynamic content (say from another site)

Ok...I blew away the website and republished doing a File-ALL.

Do you use the timestamp or Comparison to check for changed files??

thx

Mark, I am with you on this subject.

I have yet to synchronize successfully between my laptop/remote
site/desktop. I too am wondering if I should use timestamp instead of
comparison. Here is what really gripes me, I will edit a page on my
desktop. Go to Remote Website, and FP reports the edited page in
conflict with the file on the server. I am the only one working on the
web. The only way I can get this laptop/remote site/desktop thing to
work is to "remember" which pc (laptop or desktop) I worked on last
and just publish. Then publish back to the other pc.

Another issue, lets say I publish from my desktop and want to update
my laptop. Even though publishing has a "Remote to local" publish
option, it wont work right. I have to open the actual website as local
and my laptop as remote in order to get the changes I made on the
desktop over to my laptop.

I am getting very frustrated.

I have just given up....
I am not going to use FP's crappy synchronization process...

I know what is supposed to be on my website and what is not and if
manually doing costs a little more time but saves my
frustration....then I will do it manually...

As for your remote/local....that seems to work fine. If I open the
website, then it is local and my hard drive is the remote....just the
opposite when I open my hard drive webs.

sorry I couldnt help

In FP2003 the local is the current site open, and the remote is the site you are publishing to
- so the local can be on either your Local PC or your ISP Server depending on which you open
Publish All (using comparing source and destination)

If your server site has dynamic files (generated by the server or scripts - like logs) they will always show a difference
If your local and server clocks are out of sync you may also see differences
