FP2003 & Javascript

Annie McGuire

I am considering upgrading to FP2003, but am feeling a bit wary.

As an affiliate marketer, I need to create rotating banners. This entails
the use of Javascript. I am currently using FP2002. It does not like Java.
Sometimes I can make it work, but more often than not it's an excersize in
futility.

Bottom line - is 2003 Java-friendly? I can work around most quirks and
bleeps, but this one point is the pass or buy pivot.

Thanks!

Java is not the same as JavaScript.
Neither FP2002 or FP2003 has any problems with JavaScript or for that
matter Java.

But many user PCs no longer support Java

The problem is not FP, but the fact that the Java engine is
not included in newer Windows OSes. You'll need a link for
the visitor to download the Java stuff if you want it to
work for everyone.

Whoa, hang on a second. there is a BIG difference between Java and
JavaScript. JavaScript is run by the browser, and has nothing (other than
the name and basic syntax) in common with Java, which uses a JIT engine to
run. IE can certainly run JavaScript, with or without a JIT compiler.

I was referring to this portion of his post:
"Bottom line - is 2003 Java-friendly?"

Well, perhaps you should have been referring to his misunderstanding of the
difference between Java and JavaScript, as he apparently doesn't know:
