FP2003 uploading

Keith Foster

I have just up graded my Front Page software to the 2003 version. In all the
past versions of Front Page, it had a nasty habit of changing the links to
the local web and then they dont work when published??
I have a very good web site which I have done in FP over the years but I now
always FTP the updates because Front Page changes things?
What I would like to know will FP 2003 change my links if I publish from
Front Page ?
Same question applys also to the
'Synchronise' in FP Remote web publish?

Thanks Keith

FP will only set links to your local HD, if you have not first imported all
content into the current open FP web prior to using the content in your web
or you work on individual pages without first opening a web via File Menu |
Open Web.

I've never seen FrontPage change links as you describe,
provided that:

o You always open a FrontPage-based Web first, and only
then open any pages it contains.
o You never Import all the files from another copy
of your Web site; you always open the remote site and
publish its contents to your working copy.
o You always add pictures and other ancillary files to
your Web first, and only then use them in pages.

If you stick to these rules in FP2002, I don't think it
will mess with your links. And neither will FP2003,
including synchronize.

If you can identify another scenario where FrontPage
corrupts links, please describe it and post to this thread.
