Frames in Word

I have Word 2000 on a XP laptop. When I want to place a
Table of Contents into my document it automatically puts
me into frames. The only way I've used Word is with the
older version of Insert Table of Contents.

I do not want this as a web document. Can I turn something
off and go back to the method I know? It doesn't seem this
is an option.

Help!
