Frames

Can anyone give me a few pointers on using frames? I have
read the Front Page 2002 Bible and thought I had a simple
split frame set up correctly but when I click on a hover
button in the top frame (using it as a navigation bar),
it gives me a "page not found" error. I have the hover
button properties set to open an html page in my web site
in the "main" page (lower frame) but it cannot find the
html page (but the "page not found" does show up in the
lower frame).

Well I finally got it to work -sort of! I seem to be able to get the hover buttons to select a new frame in the lower frame. My problem was that I wasn't saving the frame under the Frame menu. Now all frames are saved from the Frame menu and then the frame set (container) is saved from the FILE menu. If I do that it works fine but..

When I close down FP2002 and then reopen it, none of the links work. Now it cannot find anything

Arggggg.

Are you reopening your FP Web/Site (not just a page)

I am opening the web site. At least it shows several htm files, some jpgs and a few hidden folders for the web site. Just like I always opened up the FP web sites before.

Sorry but I thought everyone could get that from the newsgroup thread.

I keep finding out more. I just discovered that the preview window doesn't work in FP2002 for my frames based (very simple) web site after I have closed the program and re-opened it but if I select PREVIEW in browser in the FILE menu, it does show up correctly. Why does it work fine when I create it the first time and save it and it works fine but when I close FP2002 and then immediately start FP2002 again, (it opens the same web), it doesn't show it correctly unless I preview it in the browser

One other very stupid request. For some reason, in all my trying everything to get it to show properly in the preview window, I cannot seem to get back my default screen. I have been viewing three things at once - view pane, folders and the NORMAL/HTML/PREVIEW panel. Somehow I messed it up and now when I select the folders panel it shows up as two separate panes (one small pane with just the name of the web site folder and a private and images folders. To the right in the main window is a Windows explorer like windown with the same stuff plus the individual files. How can I get back to my desired scheme
