Is the beta version of office free? If so, does it have only a trial
period?

Yes, the beta is free and yes, it does have a time limit. But it is also can
affect the stability of your system and has caused some people to lose data,
reformat their systems, and spend a lot of time trying to get it to
work/work properly. If you are just looking for free software, you really
need to ask yourself how much time and aggravation are you willing to invest
in this effort?

this as official so it could be sooner...
