Freeze Panel not working?

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) I would like to freeze the top row of my excel sheet so the headings will stay constant at the top and i can scroll down but it stays at the top. I know where is it.

I clink on window and I see freeze panels towards the bottom but it is shaded gray and I can not click on it. How do I turn it on so I can use it. Thanks

The 2 most common reasons are:

1- Split is turned on -- you can't use Split & Freeze Panes on the same
sheet at the same time. If the command in the Window menu reads as "Remove
Split" select it then you'll be able to use Freeze Panes.

2- The workbook or sheet has Protection of some sort applied. Look in Tools>
Protection... to see if any of the items in the submenu read as "Unprotect
(whatever)". If so turn the protection off.

If neither of those are the cause in your case you'll need to provide more
specific details about the structure of the worksheet as well as its source
& any additional descriptive information you can supply. State your exact
update levels for both Office & OS X
