I wish to freeze panes in excel 2007 however, the option is not highlighted
i.e. I click on it but nothing appears. Help!

Make sure you are in Normal View--Freeze panes doesn't work in Page Layout
View.

excuse top posting

using office 2007 sp1 on vista business

On my version of excel, view/freeze panes generates 3 options
1 unfreeze panes
2 freeze top row
3 freeze 1st column

there is no option merely marked 'freeze panes'
hence I can't freeze both the row and the columns I want which I could
in all previous versions of excel

please advise

Then you already have frozen panes.

Then you already have frozen panes.

I hate to tell you this but as my post clearly states that is not true
Would you like me to semd a screen dump as proof?

What happens when you click on Unfreeze Panes?

What options are in the list after you click on Unfreeze Panes?

The "UNfreeze panes" option ONLY appears when panes have been frozen.
