I purchased a copy of Office Student and Teacher 2003 and installed it on my
laptop. The hard drive died (my first Blue Screen of Death) a few months
ago, and I had it replaced. I reinstalled Office and registered it with the
product key number. I realize now that as far as MS is concerned, I have two
machines, rather than just one, running Office. (This matters because I am
getting ready to purchase a new home desktop and will install Office on it.)

What do I need to do to deactivate the first registration? Thanks.

There isn't an 'deactivate' feature, but you can use the telephone activation method to overcome obstacles in activation of MS
Office products that are non-OEM ones. (OEM products are licensed to a particular machine, retail copies are licensed to people).
