This just started happening after upgrading to 10.5.2. I get the message when sending. Go to the outbox and reselect and things go fine.

Create a new email and it goes through most of the time. If not on the second or third try.

The yahoo (ATT account via SBC/IL) help files suggest I need to verify my address. I have

Have fixed permissions, rebuilt the database, and am wondering about ditching prefs.

I've also got the 2008 version and my just elect to do the upgrade.

If you're able to send mail most of the time then your Entourage
settings are correct. If this is intermittent then this sounds like a
possible problem with the Yahoo servers.

The most you can probably do is verify that your keychain is working
properly. Open the Keychain Access utility found in
/Applications/Utilities and select Keychain Access --> Keychain First Aid.

If that doesn't find any problems then delete your saved password for
your Yahoo account and re-enter it the next time you connect with Entourage.

Hope this helps!

Key chain found some issues and repaired them-port ID.
Ditched all Entourage prefs in Microsoft folder and plist.

All of this seemed to work for about 12-14 cycles (check every 20 minutes) then the problem returned.

Will try ditching the password next.
Thanks

Ditched the password and had to manually re-enter. Composed a new message and got the same issue when sending a note to our daughters.

Composed another note to a client without issue.

Composed a third note to an address book contact that I have not used in several weeks and the problem returns.

I'm going to advise SBC/ATT but all of this started after migrating to 10.5.2 from 10.5.1
I think the issue is "deeper" within the OS.

I think this is a Yahoo issue. I have Mail and Entourage each sends out to the yahoo server.

I get failed in each application.

Went to Yahoo and ditched the verified address (it confirms that it is verified) and switched to the alternative. Saved the new setting then went back and re-entered my email address ([email protected]) and received a verification that this action was accepted.

The next step is to try a different computer. I get the same problem so I am going to (groan) have to deal with their tech support.

This is a Yahoo issue. I had the same problems basically because I'm
using a different Reply To address than my Yahoo account. I even went
through the deal with Yahoo of registering an alternate reply address.
Here's what finally worked for me... my reply address had cap letters
in it, Yahoo would not recognize the capitol letters when registering
and alt email address, so... I went to Entourage, Tools, Accounts, and
changed my reply to address to all lower-case. Dunno if it will solve
your problem but it worked for me.

Here is the solution.
ATT/SBCglobal.net-Illinois has upgraded its security. They had a voice note on the tech support site. I needed a voice support to pull this off as the prescribed protocol did not work as anticipated.
Settings for sending mail through ATT
Tools>Accounts>Mail>Sending Mail>Advanced
Select SMTP service requires secure....
Select Override default and set to 465
SMTP requires authentication

This initially did not work so we intentionally created a second verified ID through the yahoo mail settings but did not make this the default. Somehow this action triggered something with the account to make the original default (Name with upper and lower case) no longer a problem.

I tired all of that, (below) AND going thru the yahoo address verification
nonsense, and nothing worked. Finally, I put "send all" on a schedule of
every minute. I found that it takes anywhere from 3 to 10 tries to send an
email, so now, the emails get sent eventually, within 10 minutes (at most),
without me having to try hitting "send" over and over again.

I have called Yahoo about 5 times over the past week or so and been
given the run around. Their last response was that they don't support
Eudora.

Ooops - sorry. Looking to get help anywhere I can about this awful
mess that Att Yahoo have created. It seems that users of many
different email clients are having troubles

Any update on this? I've tried absolutely everything and it's not fixed. It's as has been said - eventually they go out. Driving me crazy.

The settings I described have been working for me without issue since implemented.

Does the problem happen if you use another email client? I have both Entourage and Mail on 2 different systems. The fact that it consistently failed pointed me to the Yahoo direction. If you cannot prove this you might have a local issue in addition to this issue

That URL redirects to a general "Help for Mail" page that does NOT seem to supply any help for my circumstance. I recently changed from Comcast to AT&T. In browsers main comes and goes without problem. Same in Apple's Mail app. but Thunderbird is where I archive most accounts and it is in Thunderbird where I get this error.

Oh, wait I went back to review settings, could not find the draft, even though it told me the same error. Looked in the Sent folder and there it was.

Looks like Yahoo is up to their usual haphazard implementation. To see why I say haphazard, check THIS out (almost all spam I get is from students' hacked Yahoo accounts): http://thenextweb.com/insider/2013/...it-amid-reports-yahoo-failed-to-fix-old-flaw/

Hunh! I typed in three paragraphs and hit Post and it came back blank. I don't have time for this.
