FROM: email address disappears mail in outbox

Typed an email address and hit send. The email was sent to the OUTBOX and the
FROM address disappeared.

Imported to WORD and uploaded as an attachment and resent, but it again went
to the OUTBOX and the message is there, but the FROM address is blank. The
message was not sent.

Repeated attempts to send just creates copies in the OUTBOX.

Has it ever worked?
Does it ever work (is it just this message, or even just a simple test message
that produces the problem)?
What version of Outlook?
What type of mail server?
Any anti-virus software on the system?
Has anything changed?
Does it work if you exit outlook and go to Start - Run - outlook /safe?

It has worked for three years-my wife typed email (home sick not go to
church) and when tried to send would not go. Simple email.
Found that the FROM: address is not entered
Outlook 2003
isp.att.net
Norton/Symantec which is updated and run regularly-it gives msge unprotected
often and I have to update and most times restart computer.
No known changes.

Tried run outlook could not make run, but opened all programs ran Outlook
Express and found three or four emails from a long time ago-it wanted me to
sign in. I don't believe this is what you had in mind.

Ok, does that mean *any* email, or just the email you're trying?

Ok, I more meant POP, IMAP or Exchange, but, ok.

Ok, I'm not concerned that you have a virus, I'm more concerned that the
Outlook plugin functionality that many A/V softwares throw into Outlook might
be causing the problem.

No, it wasn't. OE isn't related to Outlook. Let me give you exact steps
and you can tell me where you're having an issue and what the issue is.

0) Ensure Outlook is not currently running. If it is, go to File - Exit.
1) Click on the start menu.
2) Click on Run.
3) Type 'outlook /safe' (without the ' marks)
4) Hit Enter.
