From field in OL2003 appear as exchange gibberish

Itai Raz

Hi There,

I installed office 2003 yesterday, on top of windows 2000 (upgrade? remove
and install? who knows...). Every since, every time I send an email, the
from field in my outlook view looks like this:
/o=GF/ou=GFCORP/cn=Recipients/cn=ItaiR. I want it to show my name, of
course.

Any idea?

Thanks for you response!

Per what I checked (sent myself an email), users see my real name, which is
good. I'm not sure what other exchange users on my server see.

However, having the ugly string in the from field in every outlook view is
annoying as hell, and makes me wish I had stayed with 2000. Isn't this
something that can be resolved ? I want to be able to sort by from, and get
some true results..

But what do actual recipients see? That's what matters.

Well, that's your address, so it's a true result. Did you see something
different in Outlook 2000?

I don't get it. What do you mean that's my address? For every other email in
my folder, I see the nice name (not even an email address) of the person. Why
is it that for my own emails outlook can't just put up "Itai Raz" as the from?
And yes - in OL2000 my name appeard as "Itai Raz" in the from - not the x400
string. Can this be changed?

It is, on the Exchange server.

Did you try creating a brand-new mail profile to see if this still happens?

I'll try that. It's a shame for me to lose my ost (0.5Gb), but I guess
there's no alternative.

Thanks,

It will be created instantly if you sync.
