Front-end DB questions

I have a couple of questions as it relates to a Front End / Back End
Database being used by 97 and 2002

1. Does each machine need to use their own FE?

2. Does the FE all need to be the same name? For example can we create FE1
and copy it as FE2, FE3 ect and all be in the same dir as the BE?

3. Do we create the mde for 97 and let the 2002 machines convert or do I
create two seperate mdes?

Thanks in advance for any advise

1. Yes, all users of the database need their own FE ON THEIR OWN MACHINES.
2. The name should remain the same for consistency purposes. It serves no
point in giving different names. Do you really want to make X no of copies
each time you make a change to the FE? I wouldn't. The FE will always
reside on the user's machine not the location of the BE, otherwise your plan
serves no purpose.
3. The BE should always be the lowest common denominator in Access versions,
Access 97 and should never be converted to an mde. The FE for users with
Access 2002, their FE can be 2002 mde. Users with Access 97 on their
machines need their FE as 97 mde. Only the FE should ever be converted to
mde's. Never delete the original MDB for any database that has been
converted to an mde. This is where you can make changes and then reissue the
database to users in the proper format.
