Front Page 1.1 Floppys..HELP

B

Hi,

I have an interesting problem... I've always bought upgrades of Front
Page..my very first version being Front Page 1.1 on Floppies. However, now
I'm getting a new computer with no A drive...is there someplace I can go on
Microsoft's site to have my floppies upgraded to a CD? If not, an upgrade
isn't going to load because I won't have a previous version since I can't
load my floppies.

Thanks for any answer!

A floopy drive only costs like 10 bucks and they're still handy to have -
why not put one in your new machine? OR... buy the full version of FP2003.

Get the full version. In any case I doubt version 1.1 is going to qualify
for the upgrade....probably too old.

The earliest product to qualify for the upgrade is FP97.

Buy a floppy disk drive and install it in your machine, or USB external
floppy drives are easily obtainable if not an IDE internal drive.

Actually I was hoping to be able to not have to purchase any version since I
still have my Front Page 2000 upgrade and it is all I need. It loaded just
fine with 1.1 as the previous version. So I guess I'll need to buy and
external floppy to first load 1.1 floppies and then I can load my 2000
upgrade. Guess I was hoping there was some way to avoid having to buy an
external Floppy drive since I can't think of any other reason to have one.
Money seems to flying out the window on this computer upgrade of mine and I
was just hoping to mitigate the damages a bit.

Thanks!

If you have the FP 2000 cd you can probably put it in the drive to verify
the existence of a previous version without loading either it or the earlier
version.

Not sure if it will work. But have you tried (using someone else's
computer that has a floppy) to copy the contents of the floppies to a
CDrom or a USB flash drive and using that? If you do that copy each
floppy into its one folder, e.g disk1, disk2, etc.

Is FP1.1 same as FP 98?

btw, i am also using fp2k and happy w/o any more upgrades.

Burn the contents of your 1.1 floppy to a cd on your old computer.

If you have a previous version on CD (upgrade or otherwise) there is
no need to install it. When the installation asks for a previous
version, swap the CD for the previous CD, then swap back as the
installation progresses.

And now you see why I will make sure my next computer either has a built-in
floppy drive or I'll buy an external one. I'm not quite ready to give up my
floppies yet.

Not if FP is like Office! I had a similar problem to the OP's a couple
of years ago with a client who had progrssively upgraded Office
versions on one computer (which worked fine), throwing away everything
except the current and most recent previous upgrade CDs. When it came
to reinstalling Office on a new (replacement - no laws being broken!)
computer, we discovered that the current upgrade CD would _not_ accept
the previous upgrade CD as proof of ownership. Fortunately, I had
access to a full version CD from my own system. I see nothing wrong
with the OP seeing if one of his friends has a full version CD and
using that to validate the install.

If you have the FP 2000 cd you can probably put it in the drive to verify
the existence of a previous version without loading either it or the earlier
version.
