I want to place a one line text form on my web page. I
cant figure out how or what to name the web page where I
would submit the entered data is there a simple way to do
this?

I would suggest you do a thorough reading of Front Page
help on Front Page Forms.

Remember that for Front Page forms to work, your site
must be hosted on a server that is capable of running the
Front Page Extensions. The host must also enable email
transport on your account.

Furthermore, you MUST publish your site using the "http"
method of publishing (not sure if FP 2000 can do this as
I jumped on board this bandwagon with FP 2002). You
cannot publish using the FTP method of publishing as that
will "break: the extensions and render your form
inoperative.

I'm totaly lost, You refer to email transport, I'm not
planning on using email just a form that collects multiple
entries. Also I use the standard "Publish the Web"
function. That won't work? I did read the help about
forms and did not find the subject mentioned. I have
M'soft manuals on FP 200 and they do not mention this
issue. I try to do my homework before asking for
assistance. I use the local Road Runner ISP which supporta
Front Page extensions.

What do you plan to have happen with the data collected from the forms?

The data must either be saved to a file on the server, where you would have to open the site
directly in FP to retrieve the content or the data must be emailed to you.

As long as RR supports the FP extensions, meaning the you must publish the site using FP's File Menu
| Publish Web command and enter the publishing location as http://www.yourdomainname.com.

Any other method of uploading the content that uses FP components such as form, guest book,
discussion web, etc. will not work.

I'm open to suggestions. - I thought that I would collect
visitors names on a web page that isn't linked to the rest
of the pages and go diredtly to the pages address to
review the results. I have published 5 other websites to
my RR site using File Menu Publishing without problems.
Are there hidden constraints as to the name of
this "blind" page or can I just use the name generated
when I generate it and save it? Is my concept viable?
Thanks for your reply

You could use the default page name the FP generate when you first set up a feedback form from the
New Page | Feedback form. You can edit this form as needed. The page for the results (the data enter
by your visitors) by default will be stored in the _private folder.

Suggest that you go with the defaults until you understand how the form works and see how the data
is stored, before you start making changes. You will not be able to test the form until you have
published it to the server.

I did use the default name, Thomas, and the FP editor
rejected the name because it had a / in it. That is the
reason that I asked the question in the first place. I
guess the answer is that there is no fixed name. Should
the page have a .htm suffix?

The form name can not have any spaces or special characters, it needs to be all text.
