front page 2000---nav buttons are black where words should be

I created my website with no problems. When I went to
update my site, I changed the theme to sumi painting.
After that change, the nav bar after published showed
black bars on the buttons where the words should be. The
words showed before publishing. I went back and took out
the side nav bar. I have tried to completely redo each
page with the nav bar, but nothing seems to work. I have
also tried different parent/child choices on the nav
properties window. This is my first website and I am not
sure what I need to do.

If you are using NVIDIA Video card this has been reported to be caused by using a graphics driver higher than 30.82 (downloaded from
Windows Update which offers 40.85?)

Other users have reported the rolling back to a specific WHQL certified NVIDIA driver clears the problem.
Download the older drivers, then UNinstall your version through add/remove programs first before installing the new drivers.

In both cases users report rolling back to version 30.82 works to solve the problem
