Front Page 2003 won't let me work directly on the web.

This new to me version of Front Page insists I edit my site in a remote
location, but I want to work directly on the web. How do I configure the
settings to avoid the difficulty. The host site supports all extensions.

Try using the Internet Explorer to go to the website, click on the
Frontpage Icon in the IE toolbar. You may have to enter your name and
password and there is nothing else to set up.

Thanks, but that is exactly what I've done and in the past had no problem.
But have installed Front Page 2003 recently and for some reason the default
will not let me work directly on the site. When I add a page and try to save
it to the site it automatically goes to a remote location on the computer,
then for some reason insists that I do an FTP transfer - absolutely not
necessary. I have not been able to find a way to set the Front Page to allow
me to work directly to the server.

in FP, File Menu | Open Site and enter the URL as http://www.yourdomainname.com

This will open as your local.

In FP2003, "local" is whatever site/location you open first, and "remote" is whatever site/location
you will be publishing the "local" copy to.

Thank you, it appears to be working now. I did have to restart the computer
and download the site again.
