front page hangs on sign-in to server

All of a sudden today when I attempt to sign in and work on my site live, the program hangs on the sign in, and eventually locks my whole system.

I have another site that I work on that is disk-based and I can publish/sign in fine on that one to upload my changes, but I can't sign into the other one to work on it live at all.

Is there perhaps a corrupted file in the web that I could be looking for?
Any and all ideas appreciated.

1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
- in FP 2003 you need to look in the super hidden folder
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
3) Open your online site and run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks

Thanks for the suggestion, and I did what you instructed, but I was still unable to sign in to the website live at all. I can't get in to even recalculate, because the program hangs from the beginning when I attempt to sign into the server.
Any other ideas?

I've already done a system restore as well, which of course didn't work.

Try browsing to the site in IE and using Edit w/ FP
- if it still hangs contact your host and have them check the site and permissions

Try it
In IE from the menu use
File | Edit with FrontPage
- that should open FP and your login dialog without using web folders

| how can I browse to the site in Internet explorer and then edit using front page?

Okay, I think I now understand what you're saying, but since I can't sign into the site I can't do it. The website won't open if I can't get signed into the server, and the version that I have on my hard drive is a couple months older and does not have the updates on it from the past couple months because I could not figure out how to publish it back from the server to my hard drive.

Am I totally screwed here? Someone suggested I FTP the thing to my hard drive, and I put it all in a folder but it's not a web and it doesn't have any of the webpages, so that does me no good at all.

I really appreciate your help and I really need to solve this problem, so I'm willing to try just about anything.

You need to contact your host to check the FP SE and permissions on the site
