FrontPage 2002 + Media Player 11 (will not connect)

Shroom King

I am stumped!

First, I want to go through the process to see if you know where I'm going
wrong.

I'm using Microsoft XP Professional (at least that is where my web
page/server is located) Media Player 11.

Here are the steps to embedded MPEG.

Insert > Web component > Advanced controls > ActiveX Control > Windows Media
Player

The media player pops onto my web page, of course, with no problems.
I right-click on the media player and enter the ActiveX Control Properties.

Under the Source is the File Named or URL...inwhich I browse and enter the
actual video directory....no big deal.

Here is my problem.

I have a network set-up which involves a few household computers. With any
one of these computers I'm able to pull up the web page and view/play the
video with no problem. But, if I go out of my network in onto someone else's
computer, the video will not pop up. I thought at first this may have
something to do with my router, but for the life of me I can't figure it out.

All that happens is that the video will say Ready - Connecting... and then
it just resets back to Ready.

I have tried everything! I just don't understand what I could be doing
wrong. I feel it is coming from my router or some sort of security that will
not allow the video to be viewed outside of my network but, I am truly at a
loss for what I can do next.

I created a test page on my web site,
http://mushroompatch.com/testing_video.htm, so you can see for yourself what
is happening.

Now I have sometimes gone to other people's web sites in this exact same
thing occurs every now and again. Maybe it's an update that has gone
terribly wrong, I don't know.

Is there anyone out there that may be able to assist me with this or has
come across this before that knows exactly what the heck is going on?

The wmv files need to be with a FP Web site in order to be viewed in the internet
- yours are in a folder on you desktop
"\\Webserver\desktop\My Web Sites\NEWthe_mushroom_patch\video\Lab - TMP.wmv"

On your local network only, it might work if all PCs are member of the same domain or workgroup and If the folder they are in is set
as a shared folder

PS
remove all spaces from file/folder names to prevent broken links
