Help! My computer will not start up and I was told that I have to start over with all the programs and will lose all the data. My question is: If I have my website on that computer will I lose all of the pictures and other data from the website when I start over? Or are all the pictures, etc. on the web and not specifically on my computer?

Have you published the web to a remote server?

If you've published your web, you can go live to your site and publish back to your PC.
However, I would look into other methods of starting/repairing your computer without losing data. Re-formatting/reinstalling everything is a drastic last choice. Have you tried booting from a floppy?

only if you published the site to the web. but otherwise they will be on your
computer as well as on the web.

rule of thumb: back-up, back-up, back-up!

go to a windows news group for your system:

alt-windows98, alt-windowsME, alt-windows2000, alt.windows-XP
(all available on microsoft.com or your ISP may host them on your news-server)

They are helpful for general advice on operating systems.

Can your computer start to safe mode? Have you been able to use a start up
floppy disk? I assume by the subject line you're using FP 2003 in which case you
have Win 2000 or XP so you should have your windows disk/cd which can be used to
install over the top of the current installation and/or do a repair to the
system. Do you use the 'system restore' functions of XP (or equivalent)

Anyway....visit the above news groups for tips on system restoration.
