FrontPage 2003 Form/autoemailer will not work

K

Kevin

Page displays [FrontPage Save Results Component] and nothing happens when
submit button is pressed. I've contacted ISP re Microsoft's advice on what is
wrong at the server end and ISP reports all is fine. Site was uploaded with
FP2003 not FTP.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

When you view a page that contains a form that is configured to send the
form results to an e-mail address, you may receive the following message on
the page rather than the form: [FrontPage Save Results Component]

Read these Microsoft Knowledge Base articles for possible causes and
solutions:

FP2003 uses the FP2002 extensions and the form handler has changed since FP2000. You host need to
make sure the extensions are configured to send email from the FP form handler.

Thanks! I will forward this to my ISP. Is there anyway of determining if the
FP Extensions have been enabled correctly other than FP Forms not working?

Thanks!

Not really.

The FP extensions have different option that can be enabled or disabled by the hosting service, as
well as options that need to be configured, such as the email function.

My ISP responded, "I have upgraded your extensions to the 2002 version and
made sure they carry the SMTP settings."

Despite this my form is still dead. Absolutely nothing when the submit
button is depressed. Is there any way I can debug this process i.e. monitor
what happens from the time the submit button is pressed? (I designed my own
form/autoemailer using CDONTS and it works well but I need to get the FP2003
form working as it allows me to easily create a much better eye appealing
form.)

Thanks again for your help,

Kevin

Actually using CDONTS or CDOSYS have no impact on the look of the form, it is just a method of
processing the form data, which give you way more control then using the FP form handler. FP can
still be used to design the form and then under Form properties, select send to other, and specify
the ASP page that processes the form via CDONTS or CDOSYS.

Try this, open the live/remote site directly in FP, then your form, make some changes and be sure it
is set to send email under Sent To, try with and without the text file. If neither work, then you
host has not configured the extensions to process email.

I'm not sure what else my ISP did but the FP2003 form is now working. Thank
you very much for your help - very much appreciated!
